 The Most Unusual DVD You've Ever SeenWhen I moved from North Carolina to Rapid City, South Dakota in the fall of 2004, I began to re-explore my love of photography given the intense natural beauty all over this region. Every weekend I would get out and photograph roads and trails, exploring new territory at every turn. I then mused about a way to share these photos with my viewers…as the Chief Meteorologist at KEVN FOX 7 I had a captive audience! Immediately with that thought came the idea of taking my flutes and recording a short song to a dissolving slide show of my weekend photography trip... and to make a long story very short, I taught myself how to do this at home. The first postcard ran on election night in early November 2004... it is the first "postcard" on the DVD, from Mako Sica, Lakota for Badlands. Each postcard is just under a minute long, but I make them for a much-needed spiritual break from the world of news, which can be draining. From there, the concept has spread far and wide, as has my knowledge and learning curve! I immediately made it a weekly feature, and now here I am with my first release of a most unusual DVD you are sure to enjoy. 38 of the shorter postcards are on "Video Postcards: Volume 1", with 2 bonus tracks of much longer selections. I take all the photographs, I play all the flutes, and I make all the flutes I play. For an artist, it doesn't get more fulfilling than that. There is some short information at the end of each that visitors can use to find the areas; yet this is also a relaxing and meditative retreat into some beautiful and prolific nature scenes, both in terms of vistas and close-up details.
