FLUTES FOR ADOPTION

Half-Pipes

As serendipity would have it, I created this design by happenstance after first making a flat topped flute; only then did I roll it and realize it felt so good with the flat side on the bottom. Too, you get some neat vibrations up through your thumbs as a result, especially in the lower keys. The physics of this design allows me to create unusually high keys like ultra-high B, but limjts me on the low end to mid F. Sound quality is identical to a round-bore flute - this is simply an affordable alternative.

HIGH B (B4) in unusual Curly Walnut sapwood over Ebony with cream streaks; Walnut block ~18” long. Note: pics taken before finish coats applied, so curl will be more pronounced when finished
